Cape Town based Stefanutti Stocks Marine, a division of Stefanutti Stocks (Pty) Ltd, has been awarded a US$22 million contract, in a 50/50 joint venture partnership with BAM International, the operating company for Netherland’s Royal BAM Group activities outside of Europe. The contract, for client African Railways and Port Services (SL) Ltd., entails the construction of 37 navigational aid structures, two mooring dolphins and ancillary quay furniture in Pepel (close to Sierra Leone’s capital Freetown). These works form part of the rehabilitation of a loading facility for iron ore. The JV will utilise specialist barges kitted out with cranes and pile-driving equipment mobilised from Amsterdam, Holland in June 2011.
